Feeding Sharks

February 2009
Can “swimming with the sharks” be enjoyable? Our aquarists think so. Watch as they get up close and personal in the Monterey Bay Habitats exhibit with the Aquarium’s sevengill, spiny dogfish and leopard sharks. Hand-feeding helps ensure that our sharks get just the right amount of food.

It's estimated that 100 million sharks, skates and rays are caught and killed each year—and that half of these are accidental victims of fishing gear that targets other species of commercial fish. Your seafood choices can help make a difference!
